Ragnar Axelsson: Where the World is Melting
Tax included.
For over 40 years now, Ragnar Axelsson (*1958) has been photographing people, animals and landscapes in the most remote regions of Greenland, Iceland and Siberia. In simple black and white images, he captures the elemental human experience in nature at the edge of the habitable world. Axelsson makes visible the extraordinary relationships between people, animals and places in the Arctic and its extreme environment - relationships that are changing in profound and complex ways due to unprecedented climate change.
Where the World is Melting is after Arctic Heroes (2020) Axelsson's second book with Kehrer Verlag and includes, among other things, his highly acclaimed series Faces of the North (Faces of the North), Glacier (glacier) and Last Days of the Arctic (Last Days of the Arctic) as well as a previously unpublished photo series.
The book accompanying the exhibition of the same name is the first personal compilation of Ragnar Axelsson’s life’s work.
