Perfectly matched to the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 1:4/90 mm
The Leica Macro-Adapter-M is perfectly coordinated in combination with the Leica M (with Live View function) and the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 1:4/90 mm and can be used for effective close-ups up to a scale of over 1:2.
The adapter is attached between the camera and the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 1:4/90 mm. Equipped with an integrated adjustment screw, it allows the lens to be extended between 18 and 30 mm. This allows the image scale to be adjusted variably. Together with the adapter, the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 1:4/90 mm can also be used in the recessed position for shots up to infinity. Thanks to the new locking function, all distances from 41 cm (image scale 1:2) to infinity can be set without having to remove the adapter.
Diverse possibilities for image composition with other M lenses
Since the Macro Adapter M can also be used with other M lenses, Leica M photographers have a wide range of options for image composition and varied reportage. With Leica lenses with a focal length of 50 mm or more, macro shots can be taken with a reproduction scale of up to 1:2, and with wide-angle lenses even higher reproduction scales can be achieved. The required object distance decreases with the focal length. The combination of adapter and lenses with a focal length of 28 mm, 35 mm or 50 mm creates interesting effects. The short distance to the object creates a strong perspective distortion and very selective sharpness. Since the imaging performance of these lenses, unlike a macro lens, has not been optimized for close-up use, it is recommended to stop down by 1 to 2 stops. Using the Macro Adapter with lenses with a focal length of less than 28 mm is not advisable, as the distance to the object must be very close to achieve a sharp image.
