Description:
With the Leica M10-P "Reporter", Leica Camera AG presented a new product variant of the Leica M10-P. The camera model is intended as a tribute to the work of reportage photographers and, with its very robust design, meets the often difficult operating conditions in everyday photography. The Leica M10-P "Reporter" thus complements the portfolio of Leica cameras that were developed especially with the needs of press and reportage photographers in mind. These include models such as the Leica 250 from 1933, which had a film magazine for 250 shots, or the Leica MP from 1956, a variant of the Leica M3 with the Leicavit rapid winder, which goes back to suggestions by the well-known photographers Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898–1995) and David Douglas Duncan (1916–2018).
With its particularly scratch-resistant dark green paint and aramid fabric covering, the M10-P "Reporter" is reminiscent of the particularly harsh conditions in which some of the most important photographic documentation of our time was created. Aramid is a synthetic fiber that is also used to make ballistic protective vests. Over time, the dark aramid armoring of the Leica M10-P "Reporter" adapts its color to the paint on the top cap and base plate under the influence of natural UV radiation. The diamond texture of the armoring makes the camera particularly easy to grip and comfortable to hold. The relevant engravings on the Leica M10-P "Reporter" are in light green and are therefore more subtle than the white that is usually used on black camera bodies. Technically, the camera is identical to the Leica M10-P series model.
The Leica M10-P "Reporter" was announced as part of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. The edition is limited to 450 units worldwide.
