The Leica Gallery Heidelberg shows the exhibition "B-Sides" by the renowned photographer and filmmaker Philipp Reinhard. In this unique exhibition, visitors can look behind the scenes of the biggest sporting events, such as the Olympic Games or the European and World Championships.
"B-Sides" presents an impressive retrospective of Philipp Reinhard's photographs from the past few years. Visitors can look forward to unseen motifs that open up a new perspective on the world of sport. In addition, the exhibition provides intimate insights behind the scenes of Reinhard's working methods and shows how he portrayed some of the most important athletes of our time, including Dirk Nowitzki, Roger Federer, Manuel Neuer, Lukas Podolski and Mike Tyson. In addition, Philipp Reinhard shows unseen and bizarre moments away from sports venues that stem from his photographic roots in street photography.
Following previous exhibitions in Berlin, Hamburg, Nuremberg and Paris, the Leica Gallery Heidelberg now gives photography enthusiasts the opportunity to experience Philipp Reinhard's impressive works up close. "B-Sides" promises a fascinating journey through the world of sports, captured by Reinhard’s various Leica cameras.
Philipp Reinhard was born in 1990 and is a passionate photographer and filmmaker specializing in reportage, portraiture and campaigns. His focus is always on people, especially in the context of sport. Editor-in-chief Benjamin Lorenz describes the work of the internationally active photographer with the words "intense, close, honest." Reinhard captures extraordinary and fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.
As a team photographer for the German national football team, the HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim and for Team D of the German Olympic Sports Confederation at the 2021 & 2022 Olympic Games, his pictures tell stories, convey emotions and provide intimate insights. His reports testify to an intense, close and honest engagement with his subjects by getting into the thick of the action to capture the decisive moments."
